About: Cognyx builds AI software that uses knowledge graphs to help manufacturers engineer hardware at software speed. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will embed with enterprise manufacturing clients, ship the last-mile software needed to deploy the Cognyx platform, and feed what you learn in the field back into the core product.
Missions
- Embed with customers, often on-site, to understand their business and technical requirements, domain ontology and pain points.
- Design the data and knowledge layer (connectors, normalisation, entity resolution, graph modelling) and ship AI-powered workflows on the Cognyx platform.
- Build, deploy and monitor reusable agents, LLM workflows and automations for data mapping and integration.
- Lead data integrations and implementations from scoping to production, for both proofs of concept and full deployments.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders from shop-floor operators to executives.
- Turn field learnings into product insights and roadmap input with the Product and Engineering teams.
Profile
- Typically 3+ years in versatile software engineering roles, with the judgement to make code production-grade and own it once live.
- Quick to become productive in unfamiliar codebases, whether Cognyx’s or a customer’s.
- AI-native builder who takes agents and automations into production and keeps them reliable.
- Strong business sense and customer-facing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
- Product sense: turning ambiguous needs into clear specs and sound trade-offs.
- Working proficiency in English and French, and willing to work at client sites; data engineering or knowledge graph experience is a plus.
